INTERNATIONAL Novel prize

Submit the opening 3000 words of your novel. Conventionally published novelists are not eligible to enter.

First Price: £1,100

Shortlisted Entries: The ten shortlisted entries will receive written feedback from Patrick Gleeson.

The lead judge will be Patrick Gleeson, pictured here, author of Hattie Brings the House Down, published in 2024 by Bedford Square Publishers. 

DEADLINE AND FEE

Deadline 15th October (Midnight UK time)

Fee: £24.00

Entrants will be notified of the results at the end of November.

WORD COUNT

We are looking for the opening of your novel. Send us up to 3000 words. You need not have written more. Entries which are longer or not the opening of your novel will be disqualified. ​

All entries are judged anonymously. Please do not put any identifying details in your file or file name. Entries which do will be disqualified.

LANGUAGE 

All entries must be written in English.

Rules

Eligibility

To be eligible you must not be a conventionally published novelist. 


Subject, Style and Genre
Entries can be on any subject and in any style or genre.

Multiple Entries
You can submit any number of entries but a fee must be paid for each entry. Submit each entry on a separate form.

Revising Entries

Please try only to submit your final version. However, if you wish to submit a revised version of an earlier submission, you may do so by completing another form and paying an additional fee.

Confirming Receipt

Receipt will be confirmed when you submit the form by an immediate screen displaying a message thanking you for your submission. You will not receive an email or further communication until judging is complete. 

Judging
The judges’ decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into. Judges are unable to comment on individual entries. Judging is fair and unbiased. We reserve the right to change the judges without notice.

Copyright
Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author.

 

Prize Cancellation
The prize will be cancelled if insufficient entries are received. In this event fees will be refunded.
